European Green Deal necropolitics: Exploring ‘green’ energy transition, degrowth & infrastructural colonization

This article critically examines the GND (Green New Deal) platform by exploring reality of energy development under European Green Deal (EGD). Taking a special interest in degrowth positions on development, argues that is an exercise necropolitics; intensifying market relationships, extraction, and infrastructural colonization. The proceeds reviewing discussing recent environmental justice development. methodology outlines desk-based research resource extraction as well markets. accompanies multi-sited ethnographic fieldwork, charting conflicts along 400kv high-tension power line. line goes across France, Catalonia Southern Spain, stretching into Morocco occupied Western Sahara. Unconventional techniques, such hitchhiking, enabled mobility expanding informal interview pool. Outlining objectives EGD, next section three aspects its necropolitics.
